About the project

This project hosts quarterly mentorship camps according to age group, profession and sex. This annual camp provides mentoring opportunities for young professionals around the world to mentor another young person in a camp in Africa for 14 days.

The project is set in a select camping site in one of our partner countries in Africa. The participating youths are invited through media to write a 300 word concept note under a selected title. For the last two years, ENCO has been running Camp Talanta under the title "If I were the — Mandela". This involves choosing a career and marrying it to the Nelson Mandela principles and values.

The concept note is then reviewed by the management board and a group of 40 Young people are chosen and subsequent mentors are invited. After a week of rigorous training the participants are then subjected to simulated apprentice-like scenario testing and the winning youth receives a cash reward among other gratuities.

We are working in partnership with East African media houses to pre-record the next Camp Talanta program for broadcast across Africa through Digital Satellite Television.
